Case Study #2: Household Products Application (Consumer
Products Industry) – Micro Mold designed and built a 32-cavity, semi-hot
runner mold that produces a component that is included in top of common
household spray bottles. The mold
required detailed work on the cavity stack (front & rear cores, stripper,
front & rear cavity) in order to produce the mold to the customer’s
standards (all components held to a tolerance of +.0000/-.0002, +.0002/-.0000
inches) and successfully produced parts to specification on the 1st
sampling run. Impressed with the craftsmanship that was demonstrated in the
mold, the customer inquired into the cost to enhance the mold so that every
component would be completely interchangeable from a given cavity to any
other cavity in the mold. To the
customer’s amazement, they were informed that the mold was already
built to that level of detail - any component in one cavity could be
exchanged into any other cavity within the mold. All of the molds at Micro Mold are built
with full interchangeability. Case Study #3: Personal Care Application (Consumer Product
Industry) - This project constitutes the third complete mold that was
built (and designed) at Micro Mold and adheres to the highest consumer
product standards. The customer
requested a 36-cavity, cold-runner mold that was completed in 1980 by the
team at Micro Mold. The mold continues
to produce over 250,000 parts annually and is still used in daily production
by the customer. |
